Exodus™ and Oracle ADF

As a world wide partner with the Oracle® Migration Team, CipherSoft has developed Exodus™ release 4.2, which fully integrates with JDeveloper and utilizes Oracle's ADF technology.

Migrating applications to take advantage of ADF and JDeveloper

Many Oracle customers are excited about the new capabilities of Oracle 10g and 11g, and Oracle's Web technology. In an effort to take advantage of the new technology Oracle provides, CipherSoft provides an automatic migration tool, Exodus™, to facilitate the migration of Oracle Forms and PL/SQL to Java. Exodus™ has embraced the architecture of the original Oracle Forms source files. Using the information contained in the original Oracle sources, the tool builds an internal picture of the Forms assets, such as data blocks, canvases, and PL/SQL. This information is then converted into Java, and then directly loaded into JDeveloper for maintenance.

For those companies who are not comfortable making the transition to Java, CipherSoft provides Forms upgrades to Forms 10g. This enables the client to start utilizing ADF for development of new applications, while still maintaining a Forms Development environment in which their developers feel comfortable.

Utilizing the robust frameworks of Oracle JDeveloper and ADF

To maximize developer productivity, CipherSoft has developed an integrated version of Exodus™ in order for it to fully integrate with Oracle's JDeveloper and produce ADF applications. This integration simplifies J2EE development to create standard, high quality J2EE components including applets, servlets, JavaBeans, EJB, PL/SQL, Java Server Faces and Web services. The integrated product offers an open and extensible J2EE framework called Business Components for Java (BC4J) that allows developers to quickly build sophisticated J2EE database applications and Web services.

CipherSoft's BC4J framework considerably simplifies delivering solutions that exploit the full set of J2EE technologies by providing an off-the-shelf implementation of the numerous additional design patterns that would normally have to coded manually. CipherSoft can also use its BC4J as a data source for Oracle's ADF applications. The BC4J technology allows the developer to declaratively specify a page containing elements with attributes bound to BC4J data sources.
