About Oracle Application Express

Oracle Application Express (Oracle APEX), formerly called HTML DB, is a rapid development tool for the Oracle database to build Web-based applications. The APEX environment is somewhat new and will continue to grow in the coming years.

Moving your Forms to APEX may be a good choice if:

  • You have a small to midsize application
  • You want to go to a client server environment
  • Your application is not mission-critical
  • The application is non-transactional

You may also want to consider:

  • The familiarity of your development staff with APEX – this typically means experience with Forms, Reports and PL/SQL. Most developers find the environment to have a moderate learning curve and that it is well-documented.

Save time and money with the Exodus tool

While performing a migration from Forms to APEX, we utilize our Exodus tool, which is our automated solution primarily developed for migrating Forms to Java/ADF. One of the benefits of the tool is that it automatically converts PL/SQL business logic. This is often one of the most complex and time-consuming areas of the conversion project.

Although we cannot achieve the same level of automation as with a migration to Java, our Exodus tool still gives us a head start on the project.
